It’s time for Friday Fictioneers. Thanks go to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields who selects the weekly photo prompt and conducts the Friday Fiction choristers. My contribution is below. Tune up your vocal chords, follow the imaginary bouncing ball and sing along. Then check out the link and you’ll just want to sing some more.

Decor dilemmas
Don’t you see, it’s not right
Can’t you understand my plight?
I don’t want to fight,
but you can’t have it all your way.
We’ve got oak on the floors
We’ve got walnut for the doors,
teak and ash galore,
but on this I must have my say.
Maple trims are fine,
and I don’t mind pine –
for the tables and chairs it’s alright.
I gave you a free hand
when you claimed my tastes were bland;
but now I must take a stand,
and I won’t have a wooden light.
Lovely, truly lovely! A wooden light – a wooden heart! Well done!

Thank you so much, Yolanda. I hope you sang it – it’s just not the same unless you do. I hope Elvis forgives me.

Yes, I think there’s sufficient plot in there to qualify for Friday Fictioneers’ guidelines. It rocks along much better if you sing it. Thank you for commenting.

Sometimes, you just have to put your foot down on the wooden floor on which you already compromised! Nicely done!

You sure do. We’ve just begun the process of building a new house (still in the planning stage) so probably that’s why my mind went in this direction. So far we haven’t had any major disagreements. Thanks for your encouragement.

I hope it stays that way. Building a home can be as stressful as it is exciting! May The Force be with you!!

Definitely not a wooden chandelier. Spot on.

Thank you, Patrick. Wood is wonderful, but there’s a limit.

I guess fascinations for wood can go a little far.. yes you are right.. would crystal chandeliers be better?

I recently saw a house advertised for sale with wood everywhere. It was warm and cosy, but I think I’d feel the walls closing in with so much of it. I like light, airy buildings. Crystal chandeliers would add a sparkle.

when it all comes down to it, every relationship is a two-way street. it’s are all about compromise and mutual respect. otherwise, it won’t work.

You’re right. It’s quite a challenge to achieve compromises both people in the relationship can live with. Thanks for leaving a comment.

This is grand, Margaret. It sounds like they have enough wood already. Lovely poem.

Fun stuff, this week, Margaret. I even watched the little video. How charming–Elvis dancing with a puppet.
All my best,

I sat up in bed after midnight with my Ipad on my lap putting this together. I had to control my giggling so as not to disturb my other half. I did have fun with it, so I’m glad you enjoyed it too. Elvis is a bit cute with that puppet. How young he is!!!

Knot a bad effort — from Elvis and your song in the same grain is fantastic.

Oh, Irene, you are clever. I’m glad you see the grain in both – I was very strict with myself to follow the rhythm and make the rhyme work properly. Thankk you for your lovely feedback.
